Laura Josefsen, RN, ACHRN,
is a founding member of the Baromedical Nurses Association (BNA), served as president from 1996-1998, and as been active on the Board since 1985. She is a member of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society Associates, DAN (Divers Alert Network), HTNA (Hyperbaric Technologists and Nurses Association) of Australia, and a founding member of the NY State Hyperbaric Medicine Society. She is current Chairman of the BNA Certification Board (member 2000-2006), is a member of the Executive Board of the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technologists, Member-at-Large of the Gulf Coast Chapter, is a surveyor for the UHMS Accreditation Board, is the 2004 recipient of Diane Norkool Award for excellence in Hyperbaric Nursing Research, Clinical Practice and Leadership, and served on several committees of the UHMS.
Laura began her nursing career almost 30 years ago in Long Beach, California and has been very involved in patient and staff education. She is a Clinical Nurse Consultant for physicians, staff, and patient education in the areas of critical care, wound care, and hyperbaric medicine. She has numerous publications and is an internationally recognized speaker in the field of Hyperbaric Medicine. Her present position, Vice President of Quality Assurance for Medical Multiplex, Inc. includes ensuring nursing clinical standards through MMI’s Peer Review and Quality Assurance programs. She is also active in MMI’s “Introduction to Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Course”, and serves as a direct resource for questions or competency issues.
