BASIC FUNCTION
MAJOR DUTIES

A.  Variability Due to Location and Needs or Situation
   Responsibilities as diver - primary role
   Responsibilities as medic:
      a.   Emergency care of diving crew members in order to stabilize.
      b.   To report accidents and illness to supervising medical officer (SMO)
      c.   To perform such tasks and administer such aid or therapy as may be directed by 
            the SMO.
      d.   Upon order of SMO or diving supervisor, to assess fitness of individual crew    
            members for diving; also post-dive condition when directed.
      e.   Upon absence of SMO or inability to contact definitive care counseling to 
            perform triage    and limits of the SMO or diving supervisor.
      f.    To encourage physical fitness suitable to the demands of the trade among diving
            crew members.
      g.   To maintain one's own level of proficiency in emergency care and to keep current
            through frequent clinical experience and continuing education.

B.  Liaison with SMO
   Obtain list of operational parameters.
   Discuss techniques, procedures, library and equipment.
   Discuss use (s) of drugs, dosages and types; also medic kit.
   Arrange communication priorities and channels.
   Clarify priorities with SMO, area job supervisors, other personnel.
   Wherever possible, obtain written, standing orders.
   Obtain, or generate, medical records or crew members.
   Discuss accident reporting and other administrative functions.

   Ancillary Personnel
